In the lead up to You Give Me Fever, the Phaedra Cabaret we caught up with leading lady Pippa Winslow about why performing in Guildford is so special to her.

Nick Wyschna: Pippa, why do you love performing in Guildford so much?
Pippa Winslow: I love performing in Guildford because I’ve lived in and around here for so many years now it feels like my hometown – although you wouldn’t think from hearing my accent – still remarkably American sounding even after all this time. My kids grew up here, went to school here, and I have lots of friends here. I love Guildford audiences – always ready for some great entertainment.
Nick: What shows have you done in Guildford previously?
Pippa: I’ve done lots of shows in Guildford over the years, some of my favourites are Follies, The Secret Garden and A Little Night Music all at the Yvonne Arnaud and then my one woman cabaret Just A Housewife at the Yvonne Arnaud Mill Studio before touring a couple of years back.
Nick: Wow, thats quite a few shows in our town! What was your favourite and why?
Pippa: Just A Housewife has got to be my favourite. I love shows in a cabaret setting, it’s almost as if the audience is another character in the piece. Each night is different based on the vibe in the theatre at that moment.
Nick: We can look forward to another cabaret setting with You Give Me Fever, we love that feel as well. What is next for you after this performance with Guildford Fringe?
Pippa: My next stage appearance will be at the Royal Festival Hall in the new Christopher Green piece, Prurience. I also have a couple of films making the festival rounds at the moment and two new films shooting next year – one of them about a jazz singer, I can use all of my You Give Me Fever for character research.
Nick: Thanks so much for having a chat with us We cannot wait to watch You Give Me Fever in May and just want to say thank you to yourself and LynchPin Productions for bringing it to us.
Pippa: After being away for a year with the UK Tour of The Sound of Music it’s nice to be able to perform in my hometown again.
